Aurelia E. Russell

Aurelia E. Russell (Panek) 101, of Hope Valley passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 7th, 2017. Aurelia was born June 4, 1915 in Esmond, RI, the daughter of Stanislaus and Tekla Panek. Aurelia was the proud wife of Thomas G. Russell, who pre-deceased her in 2005. They had been married for 67 years.

“Rally” was a vibrant and upbeat woman liked by everyone and widely admired by all. She had that gift to make friends in all situations, and make people comfortable in her presence. Rally had many interests about which she was passionate. She was 4-H Club leader for many years and later a member of the 4-H Foundation Board of Directors. She was one of the founding members, and later regent, of the Anna C. Walsh Chapter of the Daughters of Isabella. She was an avid gardener who loved sharing her plants with neighbors. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and was known for feeding crowds of people at a time. She loved to read and was passionate about politics.

Aurelia was the mother of eight children that she ruled with love and a good dose of common sense.
Thomas Jr. (Elizabeth), Stanley who died in 2012 (Janice), Patrick, MaryEllen, Kathleen, Peter (Bernice), Joel (Lois), Maggie (Larry). She had 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Sunday, March 12th from 2-6 pm at her home, 120 KG Ranch Road, Hope Valley, RI 02832.
A funeral mass at St. Joseph’s Church on Main Street in Hope Valley on Monday, March 13 at 10 am.
Interment will follow immediately after the service.
