James H. Fletcher, 79 of West Kingston, RI and formerly of New Haven, CT and Knoxville, TN died peacefully on Friday, April 7, 2017 at his home.
Born in Monroe, NC on March 30, 1938 he was raised by his loving grandparents, James and Miss Rhoda Fletcher.
Mr. Fletcher worked as a cutter for the National Filter and Media, Co. for many years and later worked for the City of Knoxville, TN in the Horticultural Department before retiring. He graduated from Monroe High School and was voted best dressed in his senior class.
He was an active member of the Logan Temple Zion Church while living in Knoxville.
Mr. Fletcher will be sadly missed by his children; Ordro Fletcher of CT, Theresa Fletcher of Knoxville, TN, Tina Fletcher of New Haven, CT, Clifford Thomas of Knoxville, TN and Christopher Fletcher of New Haven, CT. He was predeceased by his wife Kay Valencia Fletcher, children; Rene Fletcher and Wanda Thomas. He also leaves his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his lifelong friends, Joe Mungo of VA, James Mungo, Thomas Mungo, Lee Miller and Brownie Irving all of North Carolina as well as a host of other family members.
A celebration of James’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St. Hope Valley, RI.
