William E. James, Sr. 84, of Woodville Rd, Hope Valley, RI , died peacefully at his home on Saturday September 16, 2023.
He was the beloved husband of the late Judith Sue (Renken) James.
Born in Richmond, RI on March 31, 1939 he was the son of the late Benjamin A. and Minnie Alice (Cooper) James.
Mr. James, was employed as a shipyard lagger at Electric Boat in Groton, CT, for 40 years before retiring.
Bill was a member of the Downey Weaver Post of the American Legion and enjoyed fishing and working in his garden.
He will be sadly missed by his two sons, William E. James, Jr. of OH, Christopher A. James of Richmond, RI. He also leaves his brother Robert James and two grandchildren, Matthew N. James and Rebecca L. James and two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews he was predeceased by his brother Joseph James.
The James family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday September 23, 2023 from 12-2 PM at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St. Hope Valley, RI followed by a graveside service and burial at 2:30 PM at Wood River Cemetery, Richmond, RI.
