Robert L. Martin

Robert L. Martin, 81 of Maxon Hill Road, Ashaway, RI died peacefully on February 7, 2021. He was the beloved husband of the late Bonnie (Cayer) Martin.

Born in Limestone, ME on June 17, 1939 he was the son of the late Louis and Marie (Curran) Martin.

Bob served his country proudly in the United States Air force and served with 5th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron and was stationed in Alaska.

Mr. Martin worked at Electric Boat in Groton, CT for 40 years before retiring. He was the former Deputy Chief of the Carolina-Richmond Fire Dept. and also former President of the Ashaway Ambulance and a member of the Ashaway Fire Department.

Bob and his late wife Bonnie spent many happy years traveling in their Motor-home and he had been the wagonmaster of the RI Chapter of Good Sam Club. He was an avid horseshoe and cribbage player.

Bob will be sadly missed by his 5 children; Ann Marie Martin of Ashaway, Thomas Paul Martin and Rhonda, of VT, Judy Lynn Griffin and Kyle, of CT, Robin Lee Achenbach and Mike of NC and Glenn Andrew Martin and Bobbi of Missouri. He also leaves his sister Linda Morrone of Westerly and Thomas Martin of FL as well as several nieces and nephews and 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and he was predeceased by one granddaughter.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St. Westerly, RI.
