Robert I. Kreyssig, 86, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Riverview Nursing Home in Coventry, RI. He was the beloved husband of Ruby (Salisbury) Kreyssig. Born on May 8, 1935 to Frank and Lucille (Taylor) Kreyssig at the South County Hospital in South Kingstown, Rhode Island.

Bob grew up in Hope Valley, met his wife Ruby in the fifth grade and never looked further for a lifelong companion. He graduated from Westerly high school in 1953 and joined the Air Force. He is a graduate of Rhode Island College. He was very proud and honored to serve his country. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was the Air Force Recruiter Supervisor for the state of Rhode Island – running and maintaining 5 offices throughout the state. He retired after 20 years in Air Force with the rank of Master Sargent and then went on to teach Electronic Technology, Industrial Arts, and Aerospace Studies in the Air Force ROTC program at Coventry High School retiring from there in 1990.

Bob loved spending his time with family and friends. He loved to dance, always on the move - he was never an idle person. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, archery, and golf. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Hope Valley where he served the church in many capacities. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed life.

Besides his loving wife, Ruby, he leaves his sister Joyce Browning, his four children and their spouses, Susan and Loren Andrews, Jeff and Bethany Kreyssig, Karin and Jeff Hutchinson, and David and Deborah Kreyssig. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Kreyssig, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Andrews, Stephanie and Jason DaPonte, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hutchinson, Daniel Kreyssig, Amy Hutchinson, Sophia and Nathan Pearson, Joseph Hutchinson, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kreyssig, Kyle Kreyssig, Nathan Kreyssig, and Ryan Kreyssig, 7 Great-Grandchildren, and many, many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his best buddy – his dog Jack.

He will be greatly missed.

A Memorial service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, May 14th at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church located at 1059 Main Street, Hope Valley, Rhode Island.

All are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hope Valley.

He will be laid to rest at the Exeter Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in a private ceremony at a later date.
