Neil C. Place, Sr. (POP) passed away on April 28, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. He was 89 years old. Born in Newport Vt. on June 14, 1931. He was the son of the late Harold and Adeline (Taylor) Place. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Abby) Place.
Neil worked at Posi-Seal International in North Stonington Ct. before retiring. He also was the Chief of the Richmond Police Department for 18 years. He was a Life member of the Hope Valley Ambulance, Richmond Carolina Fire Department and the Hope Valley - Wyoming Fire Department.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting trips. He loved to watch his New England sports teams and Woodmansee Insurance softball team.
He leaves behind his life partner Angie Lacey, his son Keith and daughter in law Jean, and daughter in law Lulu. One granddaughter Stacy of Stockholm, Sweden.
He was predeceased by his son Neil Jr. and his siblings Pauline, Larry, Charles and Skip
He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Monday, May 24 from 4-6 pm at Avery Funeral Home 3A Bank Street Hope Valley.
Burial will be Tuesday, May 25 at 11 am at the Wood River Cemetery Rt. 3 Richmond.
