Nancy A Potter, PhD.

Nancy A. Potter Ph.D. retired URI professor, advisor, mentor and published author, died peacefully on Thursday August 24, 2023 at her home.
Nancy was born in Manhattan on June 28, 1926 and raised in Griswold, CT, by her loving parents John Potter and Lenora (Dunlevy) Potter.
She received her B.A. and M.A. from Tufts University and her Ph.D. from Boston University.
Nancy Potter was an accomplished, skillful, talented woman. She was not only a beloved professor, but a great student advisor at URI, with many of her students turning into life-long friends.
Nancy traveled around the world committing every detail to memory to tell in stories late. She lived a life most could only dream about.
Nancy will be profoundly missed by the people she encountered through-out her extraordinary life.
A visiting hour will be held on Thursday August 31, 2023 from 10-11 AM at the S.R Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St. Hope Valley, RI. Followed by a funeral service at 11AM and burial in Pachaug Cemetery, Griswold, CT.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the URI Foundation, of Kingston to be applied to the Nancy Potter Endowment, 79 Upper College Rd, Kingston, RI 02881
