Jean Lynch Goodwin

Jean (Lynch) Goodwin, 81, passed away peacefully in East Greenwich, R.I., on January 16, 2023, the beloved wife of the late James J. Goodwin II. Born on August 2, 1941, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Frances M. Lynch.
Jean grew up in Syracuse’s Strathmore neighborhood, graduating from Most Holy Rosary School and Nazareth College in Rochester. She was a devoted and loving mother, raising her three children as the family moved from Rochester to Buffalo, Miami, Tallahassee, and Boca Raton. Jean was a high school English teacher before serving on the High Technology Council for the State of Florida and working at Florida Atlantic University. She lived in Charlotte before retiring with her husband in Vero Beach, Fla. Following James’ passing in 2014, she moved to Rhode Island to be closer to children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children James (Leslie) Goodwin III, Michael (Jacqueline) Goodwin, Sr., and Maura (Andrew Prescott) Goodwin; grandchildren James Goodwin IV, Charles Goodwin, Kaitlin Goodwin, Michael Goodwin, Jr., Emily Goodwin, Lauren Goodwin, Thomas Capaldi, Aidan Capaldi, Andrew Prescott, Jr., and Abigail Prescott; and siblings Martha Gorman, James Lynch, and William Lynch; and 10 nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at Most Holy Rosary Church on Saturday, April 22.
