Janice V. Boss

February 1, 1943 ~ July 10, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old
Janice Valerie Bodo Boss, 74, of West Kingston, RI, beloved wife of George H. Boss of 42 years died peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2017 at home surrounded by her family and the love of her life, her husband, George.

Jan was born in Bridgeport, CT daughter of the late Alexander and Irene Danko Bodo in the West End section of Bridgeport (aka Hunk Town due to the large Hungarian population) on February 1, 1943. She was a resident of West Kingston for 32 years.

Jan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was proud of her Hungarian heritage and over the years would be known to prepare such Hungarian favorites as goulash, chicken paprikas, stuffed cabbage (the Hungarian way). You could also find her humming or singing Az a szep with gusto. She had an infectious laugh and sparkle in her eye and her dad would refer to her as his own Lucille Ball (without the red hair).

Of her numerous places of employment, she was most proud of having taught religious education at St. Jude Church, Derby, CT.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, James DiMartino and his wife, Christina of CT, Joseph DiMartino and his wife Lori of CT and Donna Benoche of CT, James L. Boss of CT, Katherine Walker of FL, Cynthia Bonazzoli of CT and Tracey Tang of FL.

Fifteen grandchildren, Karissa DiMartino, Jordyn DiMartino, Lacey DiMartino, Kaelyn DiMartino, Leah DiMartino, Anthony DiMartino, James John “JJ” Maciejko, Mark Boss, James Boss, Jr., David Walker, Jonathan Roman, Kristen Roman, Mikaela Tang, Lily Tang and Kathan Tang and 11 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings, Alexander J. Bodo of Ladson, SC, Patricia Ross of Stratford, CT, John “Skip” Bodo of Wyoming, RI and Robert Bodo of Fairfield, CT and her dear sisters-in-law, Martha Lynch and Lucy Mann, brother-in-law, George Ross, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 10:00a.m. at Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston. Burial will follow at White Brook Cemetery in Richmond.
