Frank Clarke Stone, Sr.

Frank “Clarke” Stone, Sr., 85, of Hope Valley passed away peacefully at home sounded by the love of his family on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. He was the loving husband of Shirley Irene (Sherman) Stone and together they had celebrated 65 years of marriage. Born in Matunuck, RI on May 19, 1932, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Mattie W. (Clarke) Stone.

Clarke was a hardworking and dedicated employee for the State of RI working as a heavy equipment operator for 35 years until his retirement. He also was one of the founding members and was a life-long member of the Ambulance Corps. When he wasn’t working at his job, he was working at home and took great pride in caring for his family and household tasks such as cutting hay and wood. Most importantly, he loved his family and the times spent with them were his most cherished memories. He was loved by all and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Besides his loving wife Shirley, he leaves his three sons Frank Stone, Jr. and his wife Tamalin, Charles Stone and his wife Paula and Mark Stone and his wife Monica; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; his sister Eleanor Caswell along with several nieces and nephews all of Hope Valley. He was preceded in death by his 5 siblings.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11am at the Stone Family Cemetery on Fairview Ave in Hope Valley. All are welcome to attend. The S.R Avery Funeral Home 3A Bank St. Hope Valley, RI. is assisting the family with arrangements.
