Francis J Caplette

June 14, 1935 ~ April 17, 2022 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Tribute

Francis J. Caplette, 86, of Richmond, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022. He was the loving husband of the late Lorraine Marie Rose (McCormick) Caplette. Born in West Warwick, RI on June 14, 1935, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Lora (Morris) Caplette.

Francis honored his country by serving as a Marine during the Korean War. He spent his military time upon the water on the USS Macon CA-132. When sharing his memories of his time in the service, he often referred to them as “the best times in his life”.

Francis was a man who truly loved and appreciated life for everything it had to offer. He enjoyed the simple pleasures – working in the yard, tending his garden, walking in the woods or at the beach, and especially sitting in his back yard, watching and listening to the birds, looking at the morning or night sky - always taking in the wonder and beauty of where he was at that moment in time.

Known as “Pepe” to his family and to so many more, he most preferred simply spending time with his family – going for walks with his sister, having coffee and donuts, or the occasional glass of wine with his daughters, enjoying the much needed “guy” conversations with his son-in-law, watching his grandsons play baseball, his granddaughter perform and sing and sharing his meals with the family dogs, Kelly, Buddy and Maebel.

Francis – a true jack of all trades - was a responsible, committed, loyal worker to all he worked for, whether it be a direct boss or for the many customers he served while self-employed. Before retiring, he worked in maintenance for many years at Riverpoint Lace Works in West Warwick, Rhode Island.

Francis was a long-time communicant of St John and James Parish in West Warwick. A faithful servant, he served in many areas - opening and preparing the church for the daily mass, leading the Rosary, acting as an altar server, a lector, and a Eucharistic minister.

Francis is survived by his daughter, Diane Sutton of Warwick; his daughter Terrie Marchesseault and her son, Jacob of Richmond; his daughter Renee Dean, son-in-law Jason, their children Makayla and Samuel of Warwick and his sister, Irene Sirr and brother-in-law, Geoffrey of Massachusetts. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest and Raymond Caplette and his sister, Patricia DiCarlo. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Francis was a very compassionate man who believed in always helping others. A few of the charities close to his heart were the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, ASPCA, EWTN, and Wounded Warriors. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name can be made.
