Edith Geraldine Durfee

Edith Geraldine (Pelcher) Durfee, 90, of Highview Ave. Hope Valley, RI, passed away at home surrounded by the love of her caregiver’s daughter in-law, Angela and sons, Ronald and Christopher and her three loving grandsons Storm Louis Sheridan Scott Durfee and Drayden Matteo and Edward Lallo.

Born in Westerly, RI on December 10, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Harry W. (Pelchat) Pelcher and Edith May (Geer) Pelcher. She was married to her loving husband Edward Louis Durfee on May 1, 1950 until his passing on July 19, 1996.

Edith worked at the former Rockville Rope Mill for many years and was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Hope Valley and a member of the church choir for many years. She also loved gardening, flowers, cooking, sewing, crocheting and a lifelong love of elephants and figurines.

Besides her loving and devoted daughter-in-law and grandsons with whom she made her home with she will be sadly missed by her six children, Cheryl Lallo (Chuck), Harry Durfee (Susan), Michael Durfee, Ronald Durfee (Donna), John Durfee (Cathy) and Christopher Durfee. She also leaves 23 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her two sons, Larry Scott Durfee and Edward Durfee and her 15 brothers and sisters.

The Durfee family will great relatives and friends on Tuesday May 30, 2023 from 4-7 PM at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St. Hope Valley, RI. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday May 31 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by burial in Wood River Cemetery.
