Douglas Joseph Munroe, 59, of Wyoming, RI, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 11, 2021. He was the husband of Deborah (Menders) Munroe. Born in Pontiac, Michigan on April 25, 1961, and he was the son of the late Harry Elie and Ann Marie (Gardner) Munroe.

Doug retired as a Case Work Supervisor with the State of Rhode Island. He enjoyed golfing, skiing, gardening, fishing, boating, and most importantly spending time with his wife, children, granddaughter, and their pets. He also liked travelling, spending time at his cottage in New Hampshire, and watching New England sports.

Besides his wife of nearly 40 years, Deborah, he is survived by his daughter Major Rosanne M. Horswill, her husband Nathan, and their daughter Cecilia Rose; his elder son Captain Douglas J. Munroe II, his wife Lizbeth; and his youngest son Captain Samuel P. Munroe. He also has two surviving brothers and their families.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1105 Main St., Hope Valley, RI. All are invited to meet directly at the church. Seating capacity limits are currently at 65 persons in the church, social distancing guidelines and other public health directives (i.e. use of facemasks are required) will be in place. There will be no calling hours and burial will be held at a later date. The Mass will be lived streamed at https://www.facebook.com/stjosephhv.
