David Edward Marshall, husband of Sarah (Hollenback) Conyngham, passed away peacefully under the care of Hope Hospice on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.
Born January 5, 1949 in Pawtucket R.I. to Mary (Massei) Marshall and Edward Marshall, he attended Tollman High School, graduating in 1967, where he was a nine varsity letter athlete. After completing his bachelor degree in agriculture, he devoted himself to teaching at Middletown and Chariho high schools. His professional career spanned construction, coaching, teaching, farriery, and management of U.R.I.’s Peckham Farm.
Dave’s life was defined by his boundless energy, love of fishing and hunting, family, friends and people. His 40-year career as a sporting dog trainer, specializing in the American Brittany, brought many dogs to a championship level. Ever the sportsman, Dave’s ethical code, humor and goodwill won many hearts, and he was awarded the Life Patron Award by the Bird Dog Foundation.
Dave is survived by his wife Sarah, his children Nicholle Crespo and Brandon Marshall, his four grandchildren, and his stepchildren Anna and John Raithel.
The family will receive friends from 12-2pm on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the S.R Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St., Hope Valley, RI.
