David Carl Douglass, Jr. 59, of Richmond, RI, beloved son of David Carl Douglass, Sr. of Exeter, RI and Nancy Pettengill of Richmond, RI, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 22, 2017.
David leaves behind his wife, Lisa Douglass of Narragansett, RI. He was the loving father to Zachariah Edward Douglass of South Kingstown, RI, Nancy Douglass of San Antonio, TX, Stephen Douglass of TX, and Brooke Unkari. He was predeceased by his son Zane Carl Douglass formerly of Hopkinton, RI.
David also leaves behind his sisters Dawn Sowle of Richmond, RI, and Amanda Pettengill of Wakefield, RI, as well as his brother Douglass Pettengill.
David’s grandchildren, Zane, David, Jay, Caitlin, Taylor, Destiny, Jaylin and Andrea, along with his great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends will all miss his smiles, laughter and love.
David served in the Army 22nd Infantry until 1979. He worked for many years as a commercial fisherman out of Point Judith, RI. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed time hunting and fishing in the woods and on the streams of South County. David also enjoyed attending to his ever expanding gardens. When he was not at home, he could be found riding the roads on his motorcycle with his brothers and friends. David’s kind heart, quick wit, sense of humor and infectious laugh will forever linger in the hearts of those of us who had the joy to know him and share in his journey.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, August, 27, 2017 from 2-5pm at the S.R Avery Funeral Home 3A Bank St. Hope Valley, RI. Funeral Service for Mr. Douglass is Monday, August 28, 2017 at 10 am at the New Hope Chapel, 80 Richmond Townhouse Rd, Carolina, RI.
