Cora Faye Edwards

On Thursday March 11th, 2021 Cora F. Edwards, matriarch of the Edwards family, passed away at the age of 92.

Cora was born June 12th, 1928 to Abial and Richie Sherman, better known as Sherm and Ma. She worked in a mill until she married Harry M. Edwards Sr. of Cherry Croft Dairy Farm and the birth of their first son, Harry Jr. in 1949.

Cora was one of the most compassionate people you could ever meet, treating everyone she met like family. She loved to sew and crochet and none of her family were without warm handmade mittens, hats, and scarves for those cold New England winters. During her younger years, she loved traveling outside of tiny Rhode Island to places like Alaska or Bermuda on a cruise ship with her girl friends.
Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Harry M. Edwards Sr., her brother Abial Jr., her sister Marion, her son Calbert Edwards Sr., and her grandson Calbert Jr. She is survived by her best friend Beverly Almeida, her son Harry Edwards Jr., his wife Mildred, her grandchildren Harry III and Heather, her great-grandchildren Justin and Colton, many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and of course all the children that were hers in all but name.

Funeral service will be held for family only. There will be a celebration of life later this summer when all lives touched by Cora will be able to gather together and reminisce about the great woman that was Cora F. Edwards.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Cora’s favorite charity; The Shriners Hospital for Children that helped her granddaughter get a prosthetic arm as a child.
