Clara C. Salisbury

Clara C. (Champlin) Salisbury, 96 of Sandy Pond Road, Hope Valley, RI died peacefully on Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Westerly Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Preston Salisbury.
Born in Westerly, RI on July 29, 1921 she was the daughter of the late William H. and Emma F. Champlin.
Mrs. Salisbury served her country proudly in the Women’s Army Corp during World War II and held the rank of Corporal.
Clara retired as an office administrator for the University of Rhode Island. She was an active member of St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Canonchet, RI. She was also an avid card player, playing weekly until just a few weeks ago. She was also a life member of the American Legion.
She will be sadly missed by her son, William E. Salisbury and his wife, Lois of Richmond, RI and two grandchildren; Walter T. Salisbury and Christopher Salisbury.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church, 63 Canonchet Rd, Hope Valley, RI. Burial will follow in Wood River Cemetery. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
