Chester John Bednarczyk, Jr.

Chester John Bednarczyk, Jr., 71, of Hope Valley, RI passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. He was the husband of the late Laurel A. (Gabrielle) Bednarczyk. Born in Westerly, RI on November 17, 1950, he was the son of the late Chester John and Helen Barbara (Nadolny) Bednarczyk.

Chet graduated from Chariho High School in 1969, after graduation he attended community college for two years. He then enlisted with the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii until 1973. After completing his duty Chet stayed in Hawaii, he joined the corvette club and enjoyed the island life. Eventually Chet moved back to Hope Valley and began working for Charbert’s as a truck driver where he met his wife, Laurel. Several years later Chet began working for Ginger’s Services Station where he met so many great friends and worked for many years before retiring in 2016.

Chet was an avid sports fan. When he wasn’t playing it or watching it on tv, he enjoyed traveling to the racetracks and stadiums with friends to watch it in person. Every summer Chet was known to have many vegetables growing in his garden, fishing on his boat with friends and the best-looking lawn around. He took pride in his home and family. Chet also enjoyed bowling in a duckpin and 10 pin bowling leagues for many years as well as plowing driveways for friends and family in the colder months.

He leaves behind his daughter, Erica (Erik) Robbins; sister, Cynthia Oakes, brothers, Carl (Pat) Bednarczyk, and Charles Bednarczyk; brother-in-law, Frank Gabrielle; nephew Joshua (Amanda) Bednarczyk and nieces, Rebecca Bednarczyk and Lyndsay Trahan. He was preceded in death by his brother Chris Bednarczyk.

Calling hours will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home 3A Bank St., Hope Valley, RI. A funeral service will be held immediately after the calling hours at 12:00pm (noon) at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly.
