Charles A. Greene, Sr.

Charles Alvin Greene, Sr., 81, of Hopkinton, RI, died peacefully on Sunday, September 26th, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Marylin J. (Joubert) Greene. Charlie was born in Westerly, RI on April 26, 1940, the son of the late Elwin A. Greene and Alice F. (Tyler) Greene. He owned and operated his own water pump business, before retiring after more than 30 years of dedicated service. He was a former vice president and life member of the Ashaway Sportsman’s Club and a member of the First Seventh Day Baptist Church of Hopkinton, RI. He enjoyed outdoor projects, yard work, riding his Harley and cutting wood with his son Steven, as well as swapping jokes and stories with friends and family. In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed by his daughter Nancy L. Siler, his sons Steven J. Greene and Charles A. Greene, Jr., his four grandchildren Jeffrey, Matthew, Jacqueline, and Evelyn, his niece Rebecca L. Williams, and his great-grandsons Kenji James and Shoji Charles Siler of Tampa, FL. He will also be greatly missed by his older brother Elwin A. Greene, his brother-in-law Richard A. Williams, and countless others whose lives Charlie impacted with his generosity, kindness, and humor. It gives his family peace knowing he is home with his parents, his wife’s parents, his sister-in-law Donna J. Williams, and nine of his ten brothers and sisters. 
 
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 30, at 1:30 PM at the Wood River Cemetery in Richmond, RI. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to two of Charlie’s favorite charities: Perkins School for the Blind in memory of his brother John, and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of his beloved sister-in-law, Donna. Arrangements have been entrusted to the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank Street, Hope Valley, RI.
