Cassmira (Cassie) Koromi, 102, of Hope Valley, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday, June 29, 2017. She was the wife of the late Leo A. Yori and together they shared 33 years of marriage until his passing in 1967. Born in Philadelphia, PA on September 4, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Casimir and Bessie Barbara (Zviguite) Zadlausky.
After losing both her parents at a young age, Cassie and her brother Walter learned to be strong-willed people who persevered through the difficult times. Cassie found the love of her life, Leo and together they cherished the time that they had and raising their three children. Cassie put her heart into everything she did from cooking beef stew and potato pancakes to being the seamstress to the whole family and friends. She was a gentle soul that touched everyone she smiled at. She loved and was loved by all. Faith was her driving force and all those at St. Joseph Parish in Hope Valley were her extended family. Cassie liked keeping to her routine even on her last day, greeting her grand cat and companion with a “Good Morning, Pearl” and then finding peace. She was a beautiful woman on the inside and out and will be so dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Jean Jones and her husband Warren; her grandchildren, Kimberly Reilly, Kerri Jones, Betty Craytor, James Yori and Greg Yori; 12 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Walter, sons James Yori and Leo E. Yori along with her grandsons James A. Yori and Leo E. Yori, Jr.
A memorial service at St. Joseph's Church 1105 Main St. Hope Valley will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 11am. There will be no calling hours and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations can be made in her memory to the Haiti Project or to St. Vincent de Paul through St. Joseph’s Parish, 1105 Main St., (PO Box 388) Hope Valley, RI 02832.
