Carol J. Manzione

Carol J. Manzione, 76, of Hope Valley, RI, passed away at home on Monday, June 22, 2020.  She was the loving wife of Pasquale “Pat” F. Manzione, and together they shared 55 years of marriage.  Born in The Bronx, NY on July 24, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Thelma Kalenius Hamalainen.

After graduating from secretarial school, Carol became a legal secretary for the law firm Stone & Diller, LLC. in Manhattan.  Once becoming a mother, she dedicated her time to raising her three children Anthony, Donna, and Matthew.  She was not only a dedicated housewife but also an integral part of the community.  Carol volunteered for many years through multiple sport organizations.  She sat on numerous boards and commissions for the youths of Milford and Trumbull, CT.  She was an avid scrapbooker and documented five generations of family through photographs and news clippings.  She had many pets, but her two favorites were her German Shepards, Bruder and Hunter.  Carol enjoyed spending time making memories of fishing, singing, hiking, boating, and water sports with her friends and family at their summer lake home in Hope Valley, RI.  Carol’s kitchen was always open, whether enjoying delicious home cooked meals or playing late night games of rummy 500 or backgammon.     

Besides her loving husband, Pat, Carol leaves behind her two sons Anthony, of Florida and Matthew and his wife Lisa, of Long Island, NY.  She was predeceased by her loving daughter, Donna Maria.  She also leaves behind her six grandchildren Matthew, Michelle, Blake, Gianna, Matthew Jr. & Julia. 

Carol’s family would like to extend their appreciation for the wonderful care she received from Hope Valley Ambulance, Hope Valley Fire Department, Hopkinton Police Department, visiting nurses, and hospice workers.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 1 at 11:00am at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 111 High St., Westerly.  Due to the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19, social distancing will be required.  There are no calling hours, and burial will be held privately at a later date.
