Carol S. Gallant

Carol S. Gallant, 86, of Hope Valley, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 26th. Family and friends were always at the center of Carol’s life. She was an exceptionally loving, supportive, and encouraging mother to her children, a delighted, doting grandmother, and a devoted loving wife.

Carol was born on September 8, 1937, to Ella and William Smith in Scranton, PA. After high school, Carol went on to complete a bachelor’s degree at the University of Connecticut. It was during this time she met Bernard Gallant, her husband. They wed in 1961 and had five children, Stephen, Ellen, Noelle, Leigh, and Cristina.

Carol also earned a master’s degree in library science from the University of Rhode Island and spent four decades working as a librarian. She was a lover of books and reading and held a deep appreciation for many types of music. Carol excelled in a variety of fiber and textile arts. She spent the last few years of her life providing loving and devoted care to her husband Bernie.

Carol was predeceased by her son Stephen, parents and her brothers Robert and David. She is survived by her husband, four daughters, grandchildren Ben, Katherine, Nina and Ethan and brother William.

Donations may be made to the Langworthy Public Library (Hope Valley, RI) in lieu of flowers.

There will be a memorial service in her honor at the First Baptist Church in Hope Valley, RI on November 11, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
