Barbara A. Kelley

Barbara A. Kelley, 78 of Hope Valley, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by the love of her family on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. She was the wife of the late John Joseph Kelley. Born in Danbury, CT, on September 18, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Jessie (Zglombicki) George.

Barbara was a hardworking and dedicated accountant spending many years in finance for Danbury Airways. Outside of the office, she had been an avid boater for over 25 years. She really enjoyed the outdoors gardening and landscaping her own yard and especially mowing the lawn. She was a hands on person for work around the house to inside the kitchen where her home cooking was appreciated by the whole family. Her “special” coffee was also a family favorite on visits to see her. Barbara also remained active in outside activities and was a women’s certificate holder for the US Power Squadron. She always had a neat and immaculate household and loved it when the family was at home with her spending time. Barbara loved her family more than anything else and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She leaves her daughter Karen M. Sherman; her grandchildren Desiree Courtemanche and her husband Jared, Jillian Sherman and Steven Sherman; her great-grandchildren Jared, Sophie, Brooke and Nevaeh; her siblings Kathy Neves of Woodbury, CT and Karl George and his wife Eleanor of Tarpon Springs, FL; her brothers-in-law John Marcy and Roland Kelley; several nieces and nephews along with her special companions Simon and Lucy. She was predeceased by her sister Arlene Marcy.

Calling hours will be held from 1:00p.m. to 3:00pm. on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St. Hope Valley. A service will follow the calling hours at 3:00p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date.
