August 27, 1934 ~ March 21, 2024 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Tribute

Vivian J. (Jones) Roode, 89, of Wood River Junction, RI passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at home. Born in Springfield, MA on August 27, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Russell M. and Jeanette (Martinez) Jones.

Vivian was a homemaker during the years her children attended school, and a daycare worker in the years that followed. She loved the ocean, spending lots of time in the sun. Vivian loved all creatures great and small, taking walks in nature and feeding the critters along the way. Her love of the Lord was first and foremost in her life, guiding her through her journeys. Vivian belonged to Calvary Episcopal Church while residing in her hometown of Suffield, Connecticut. She was a long time choir member and performed for many weddings, funerals, church services, clubs and nursing homes. Vivian and her family moved to Rhode Island in 1975, where she then joined the First Baptist Church in Hope Valley, and continued on with her love of music. She taught herself how to play the keyboard and composed many pieces of music. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing this petite, little lady would find her to be the sweetest, caring, most loving woman you ever encounter. She always wore a huge smile and never had an unkind word. While as innocent as she may have looked she had a comical sense of humor that would sometimes surprise you. Finding her at her best moments would be surrounded by her family. She loved just watching her great-grand children laugh and play. She loved family dinner, sitting outside on the deck enjoying the company and doing her word search, and of course spending time with her favorite pal Rowan(the family dog).

She leaves her 3 daughters Kathleen Weller of Pennsylvania, Lori Roode, and Beth Kores of Rhode Island; 2 granddaughters Amber Fallat of Pennsylvania, and Meghan Soares of Rhode Island; 3 great-grandchildren in Pennsylvania Brendan, Jayden, and Hunter and 3 great-grandchildren in Rhode Island Adrin, Jada, and Khloe; her sister Helen Tine of New Hampshire; many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her sister Janet Creel.
