Verna E. Bachelder

Verna Bachelder, 89, of Hope Valley passed away peacefully at home on January 11, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her parents Gertrude (Worden) and Donald Campbell, her husband Charles Bachelder, and two brothers Walter and Donald Campbell. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Donald and Ronda Hammond, daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Robert Kirk, daughter Lori Lawhorne and her partner David Ross, and sister-in-law Patricia Lemoine. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Verna and Charles both formerly worked at the University of Rhode Island and spent 20 years of retired life together traveling around the country. She loved gardening and birdwatching and her two cats, Purrl and Lily. Verna loved to sing, and had been a soprano in the Wakefield Baptist Church choir. She will be remembered by all who loved her for her kind heart, sweet personality, quick wit and sense of humor.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Wood River Cemetery in Richmond. All are welcome to meet directly at the cemetery for the graveside service.
