Marie Doris Myrtle

August 18, 1946 ~ February 9, 2018 (age 71) 71 Years Old
Marie Doris (Kroll) Myrtle, 71, passed away in the early morning hours of February 9, 2018 after a brief illness. She was supported with love, comfort, peace, and dignity during her final weeks at her son’s home by her family and friends.

Marie worked as a telephone operator for Verizon for 32 years before retiring in 1998. After retiring, she worked in the bake shop at the Richmond Stop & Shop. Even though she was a hard worker, she knew how to live life. She loved dancing, Elvis Presley, Zumba classes, traveling, Foxwoods casino trips, massages by her amazing therapist Tim, PPAC shows, making the best batch of Chex mix for others, and spending time with her friends Karen, Evelyn, and crew. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.

Marie never had a smart phone, an email address, and had never been “on-the-line”, but she knew how to love her family, take care of her friends, how to be kind before being right, and she knew how to give the best hugs that could brighten anyone’s day.

Marie is predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Kenneth G. Myrtle, her mother and best friend Doris (Ziegler) Kroll, and her step-father Donald Anderson. She is survived by her son John, his wife Coby, her daughter, Lisa Vigilante and her husband John; grandchildren Jenny, Alexander, Bradley, John, Salvatore, Kathryn, and Zachary, and her great-granddaughter Jasmine. She is also survived by her father Walter Kroll, her brother Edward Kroll and his family, her Aunt Joyce Kunkle, and her sister-in-laws Sandy Lewis, Joanne Brien and their families; extended and ‘adopted’ families, the Spears’ and the Atkissons, and many friends.

Family and friends are welcome to calling hours at S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St. in Hope Valley on Thursday, February 15th from 9am-11am. A memorial service will directly follow at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest at the RI Veteran’s Cemetery alongside her husband, Kenny. Burial will be private.
