Lois T. Wilcox, 98, a longtime resident of Hope Valley, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Westerly Hospital surrounded by her family. Lois was the wife of the late John L. Wilcox and together they had shared 70 years of marriage. Born in Westerly on June 28, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Susan E. (Lamphear) Sullivan.
Lois enjoyed traveling, doing ceramics and needle-work along with assisting with the Meals on Wheels program. She was a faithful woman and an active member of the loyal workers for the Rockville Seventh Day Baptist Church. Most importantly, she loved her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children Donald H. Wilcox of Hope Valley, Bruce F. Wilcox and his wife Christel of Hope Valley, Sherryl A. Stedman and her husband Winfield of Ashaway and Susan E. Stedman and her husband Philip of Hope Valley; her eleven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law Roberta Wilcox of TX and Ruby Wilcox of Hope Valley along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Harold R. Williams, Manilla Williams and Mildred Powers and her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Wilcox.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St. in Hope Valley. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00a.m. at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home followed by burial at Pine Grove Cemetery.
