Leonard Pepper, Jr.

January 11, 1936 ~ April 21, 2024 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Tribute

Leonard (Lenny) Pepper Jr., 88, of Warwick, RI, passed away peacefully at home on April 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Charlotte M. (Vota) Pepper, the love of his life, for 53 years before her passing in 2015. Born in Providence, RI, on January 11, 1936, he was the son of the late Leonard Sr. and Dorothy (Wharton) Pepper.

Lenny, the second oldest of twelve children, grew up on a small family farm in Johnston, RI. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a volunteer firefighter, a union machinist, an amateur poet, and a secret romantic. Most of all, Lenny was a devoted husband and a loving father. He guided his family through the many good times and some challenging times with a gentle and steady hand. He was a hard worker who never took a sick day and would go without if needed so his children would not.

Lenny was a jack of all trades and an ingenious tinkerer who enjoyed working on his home and cars. He also enjoyed traveling, especially cruising, with his wife and perpetually “beating the house” at local casinos, a claim yet to be verified by his children.

He leaves his three children, Steven (Diane) Pepper, Karen Pepper, and Mark (Kimberly) Pepper; five grandchildren, Kathryn Brunetti, Steven Jr. (Robin) Pepper, Daniel (Sara) Pepper, Lauren Pepper, and Michael Pepper; former daughter-in-law, Doreen Walsh; and siblings, William Pepper, Richard Pepper, Grace Evans, and Robert Pepper. His siblings Phyllis Cianci, Dorothy Souza, Helen Shafer, Earl Pepper, Gene Pepper, Virginia LeClair, and Walter Pepper preceded him in death.

Services will be held privately by the family.
