Hope K Simone

Hope Eileen (Knerr) Simone, 89 of Richmond, RI died peacefully on Thursday February 23, 2017 at the Kingston Center for Rehabilitation and Health Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Angelo Simone.

Born in Hope Valley, RI on December 27, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Kendall Knerr and Alice (Cahoon) Knerr.

Hope graduated from Westerly High with the class of 1945 and graduated Hairdressing School in 1947 and was a hairdresser for many years.

She resided in West Warwick and then Richmond, RI. She was an active member of the St. Joseph’s Church in Hope Valley Church and was a member of the Rosary and Altar Society.
Hope will be sadly missed by her son David C. Simone and his wife Elaine R. Simone. She was the loving grandmother of Patricia Thornton and her husband Michael, Sharon Alessandro, David C. Simone, Jr. and Bruce M. Simone and his wife Chamoni and great-grandmother of Michaeleen Thornton, Stefanie Simone, Aniena Simone, Angelo Simone and Dacia Simone. She was predeceased by her daughter Marilyn Cunningham and her husband James.

The Simone family will greet relatives and friends at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St. from 4-6 PM on Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 1105 Main St. Hope Valley, RI. Burial will follow in Wood River Cemetery, Richmond, RI.

In lieu of flowers donations in Hope’s memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
