Bernard J. Haberek Jr. of Spring St. Hope Valley, RI died peacefully on Thursday July 27, 2017 at South County Hospital.
Born in Richmond, RI on June 23, 1934 he was the son of the late Bernard and Sophie (Popiolek) Haberek.
Bernard served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was an engineer and retired from Supervisor of Ship Building for the Department of Defense.
Bernard was a member of the Downey Weaver Post of the American Legion and he enjoyed fishing, quahogging , playing cards, working out at the gym, travel, reading and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
He will be sadly missed by his children; Christine Haberek of North Kingstown, Cynthia Shippee (Michael) of Largo FL, Joseph B. Haberek (Kristin) of Hope Valley, RI, Linda Agarwal (Saurabh) of Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey. He also leaves his loving companion of 16 years; Nancy Gormley of South Kingstown, RI and his ten grandchildren; Jeremy, Bethany, Megan, Stella, Daniel, Katherine, Sohan, Neela, Kiran and Christopher. He was predeceased by his sister, Joan Haberek.
Funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, August 4, 2017 at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St. Hope Valley, RI. Calling hours will precede the service from 9-11AM. Burial will be St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly, RI. For online condolences, please visit www.averyfuneralhome.com.
